DEAR EDITOR:

I would like to thank the Theater Angels Art League who organizes the REEK RUN as an annual event preceding the Garlic Festival.

Money raised is for the future downtown Gilroy Art and Cultural Center. Everything went very well and I think unofficially the amount of runners almost doubled last year. This is another Gilroy Event run entirely by volunteers.

Arline Silva and Bruce Morasca along with the other Theater Angels Art League Members did an outstanding job of preparing for the event. I don’t think there was a runner who waited more than a few minutes to get registered, grab their T-shirt and goody bag. By the time the event started all runners were lined up and ready to run!

A special Thanks to the Gilroy Leadership Class Of 2004 (Iris Kaout, Vilma Pinheiro, Linda Patel, Barbara DeLorenzo, Beth Jimenez, Patricia Del Bene) who volunteered at registration and jumped right in and showed their leadership skills by making a hectic situation look easy.

Thanks to Barb Granter (Gilroy Leadership Class 2004) and Bonfante Gardens for hosting such a great event. Thanks also to Russ Valliquette (Class 2004) and security for insuring that the runners stood on course and were not subject to any interference.

Arthur C. Barron,

Gilroy, Leadership Gilroy Class of 2004
