A winter concert featuring choirs from Gilroy and Christopher High schools will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14 and Wednesday, Dec. 15 in the cafeteria at GHS at 750 West Tenth Street.

“We’ll also invite the alumni to join us for ‘Carol of the Bells,’ at the end of the concert,” reminded Phil Robb, choir instructor for both schools.

Some of the proceeds generated from the $5 donation at the door will assist the 30-person GHS Chamber Choir, which is going to Europe, raise the $2,700 required per singer to make it happen.

“I’ve never left the country,” said senior and GHS Chamber Choir member Katrina Uribe, 17. “I’m so excited to go to Vienna.”

Provided they can raise the money, the Chamber hopes to attend a April 1-9 European singing tour, where they will stop in such exotic destinations as Budapest to perform with other groups.

Robb said this will be the eighth international trip taken by the GHS Chamber Choir. And while funds have been tight in the past, they’ve managed to make it happen.

In addition to attending the winter concert, anyone wishing to support the singers with their trip costs could consider the Rent-a-Caroler program – a seasonal fundraiser where Carolers from the GHS Chamber can be rented in portions of eight for $125, 12 for $200 or 20 for $300.

Anyone interested in the Rent-A-Caroler program can call 847-2424, ext. 2288.
