Gilroy – Pacific West Christian Academy drew the winning ticket for a brand new Toyota Prius at their campus last Thursday morning. The lucky winner was Mary Ann Pearson of Morgan Hill. The car was donated by Frank Bolea of Exciting Gilroy Toyota to help the school raise funds for new computers and a computer lab. Police Investigate Gang-Related Shooting
Gilroy – Gunshots rang out early Friday morning on the 400 block of Hadley Court. Police said an unknown person or persons shot at a home and a car at 2:41am Friday, but no one was injured. Afterward, the shooter fled in an unknown car. The shooting appears to be gang-related, said police, and is being investigated by the Gilroy Police Anti-Crime Team. South Valley Music Makers Begin Fourth Year
Gilroy – Now beginning a fourth year of musical celebration and friendship, South Valley Music Makers will hold its next bimonthly meeting from 1 to 4pm, Saturday, at the studios of The Music Academy, Fourth and Church streets, in downtown Gilroy. The community is heartily invited to attend, to listen and enjoy, or perhaps to bring an instrument or some music and share.
South Valley Music Makers was established by Gilroy musicians Candace Fazzio and Chris and Jack Bradshaw in order to provide a venue for those wishing to share their favorite tunes and meet others who enjoy playing and listening to music of all varieties. Not restricted to pianists alone, Music Makers has also welcomed musicians who play non-keyboard instruments. Attendees share their knowledge of the music in an open, interactive setting where audience members often contribute historical information, too. Both experienced and novice players share their repertoire in a nurturing environment.

Help Beat Cancer at Annual Relay for Life
Gilroy – Sign up or join a team for the June 23-24 Relay For Life at Christmas Hill Park.
Cancer survivors may also sign up, join a team or register online and participate in the Survivor Lap at 10am June 23, followed by a luncheon.
Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to bring together those in the community who have been touched by cancer. The event celebrates survivors and raises money to help the American Cancer Society. Its mission is to save lives, help those who have been touched by cancer and empower individuals to fight back. During the nationwide event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.
