Baty passed away Aug. 4 in Gilroy after a lengthy illness.
W. P. “Pete” Baty passed away Aug. 4 in Gilroy after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 23, 1908 in Sulphur Springs, MO. He met and married Ila Risinger in Texas in 1937 and moved to Gilroy in 1947.
He has worked at Filice and Perilli Cannery. Gentry’s and Carl Marx Chevrolet.
He is survived by his children Carrol Carrasco of Gilroy, Helen and Joe Tovar of Salinas, Betty and Ray Smith of Gilroy, Willa and Walt Rizzo of Kelseyville, James and Diane Baty of Gilroy, Tom Baty of Gilroy, Jody and Tina Baty of Gilroy, 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, sister Dora Reis of Gilroy, sister Mable Wilhite of Wasco and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ila; brothers Bill, Carl and Jim; and sisters Ola and Marie.
His ashes will be interred in a private family ceremony.
