New Dispatch hooks readers
Thank you Jack Foley for bringing a real newspaper back to Gilroy. When we first moved to Gilroy in 1996 I subscribed to the Dispatch. I enjoyed the informational and hometown feel of the Dispatch. Over the years my interest in the Dispatch waned as many of the articles became predictable and uninteresting. It became a newspaper I’d skim though in less than five minutes.
Imagine my pleasant surprise when I read last week’s issue. The article on Robert Littlejohn; how can something like that happen? This man’s rights were violated by the department of fish and game, how can that happen? How often does this occur?
I just finished today’s issue, “Cities, take a stand” re: the purchase of the Daughters of Charity Health System. How can our Mayor/City Council sit back and not provide input? Our local hospital is a very big deal. Really! No one asked them to take a stand? They were quick to action and take a stand against store owners with advertising signs out front.
When I can read a news article that exposes a wrong, challenges an issue, or publishes a deserved tribute (Tom Bundros), you’ve hooked my interest and support. I look forward to your long and successful career with the Dispatch.

Thank you to the Gilroy community, downtown merchants, and our wonderful volunteer committee, who planned, promoted and executed a most wonderful first-ever Gilroy Halloween Beer Crawl in downtown Gilroy on October 25, 2014. We had over 400 attendees who spent the afternoon discovering wonderful shopping destinations and sampling great breweries in downtown.
