The Gilroy Browns Mitey Mites concluded a successful Pop Warner season with a 24-0 win over the Morgan Hill Raiders in the annual Mitey Mite Bowl held in Salinas last weekend.
Beacuse their are no playoffs for the Mitey Mite level (7-9 year olds), the Bowl is a tradition to close the year.
The Browns jumped out to an early 12-0 lead with a 55-yard touchdown run by Matthew Mendosa and a 40-yard touchdown jaunt by Andrew Broch.
Gilroy grabbed the attention of its supporters with a stellar 32-yard touchdown pass from Brendan Doyle to Zachary Moulden as time expired in the first half. Broch added a 17-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to put a period on the scoring.
The Browns defense, led by Jalen Hernandez, Rossi Oteri, Nicholas Rodriguez and Braden Clark, recorded their fifth shutout of the year. The Browns finished with a 9-1 record and have been invited to compete at Disney World in Orlando to face off against other Mitey Mite teams across the country.
