Dear Editor,

In Friday’s Dispatch “Our View”, the editorial board majority makes the argument that St. Mary’s School should be exempted from traffic impact fees. They invoke a number of tear-jerking reasons just short of taking candy from babies and cutting down “historic trees.”

In reality, their argument that the addition of the science lab will not add new students is flawed. St. Mary’s already has major traffic impact on First Street and Monterey Street as well as First Street and Church Street.

Further, as public school’s continue their decline into further mediocrity with their focus distracted by a left-wing social agenda, more and more parents will opt to put their students in St. Mary’s which is clearly a better option for parents who want their children educated and not brainwashed. This is especially the case if St. Mary’s has state of the art science lab.

On second thought, waive the fee as it will reduce traffic around all of Gilroy’s government schools.
