Dear Editor,
When I read the letter “Breakfast at the Alter Ego Turns Into a Helping Hand for the Homeless Shelter” I thought, “Only in America.”
Where else would people think to give wet, cold, hungry and homeless people a television instead of food, warm dry blankets and clothing? A television? I kept thinking why didn’t they walk next door to The Grocery Outlet store? They could have purchased so many useful items that were NEEDED. A television?
Then at the end of the letter to ask people to donate the useful items that the shelter is in need of. I guess because the letter began by pointing out the terrible conditions and the many needs of the shelter, I was so surprised when none of these were dealt with. I don’t understand how such a great idea by wonderful people to help those in need turned into … a television.
