Woman threatened by Hispanic male in downtown area left scene of
crime before officers arrived
Morgan Hill – Police are not only looking for a man who demanded money from a woman; they are also trying to find the would-be victim who left the scene before officers arrived.
According to Morgan Hill Police Sgt. David Swing, the woman, described as Caucasian in her 50s with blonde hair, was walking on the west side Monterey Street in downtown Morgan Hill about 4:15pm, when a Hispanic male, described as 19 years old and wearing a black shirt with a white strip, ran up behind her and pushed her up against a store window.
He then told her that if she didn’t give him $20, he would hurt her.
“The incident was reported by someone who saw it, but couldn’t hear what was being said,” Swing said. “If we can locate the victim, then we can obtain a first-hand account from that individual with respect to what happened. Right now, the case is suspended.”
Swing said the suspect fled when he saw someone looking at him. He ran west on West Second Street, and the woman went into a downtown business and told the owner what had happened.
The business owner phoned police, but the woman left before officers arrived.
