softball title Monday by powering past Los Amigos Construction 23-1
at Las Animas Park.
Men’s C

Gilroy – The Las Animas Sweepers clinched the second-half Men’s C League softball title Monday by powering past Los Amigos Construction 23-1 at Las Animas Park.

Gabe Duenas and Mike Wall each went 4-for-4 as the Sweepers reached 5-0 and a two-game lead over Pro Electric and Kline’s Plumbing with one game left in the regular season. Las Animas Sweepers face first-half champion California Silk Screening in the best 2-of-3 Championship Series next month.

Cameron Bautista, Kevin Orosco and Spencer Rice each doubled in a 10-run second frame for the Sweepers. Jose Juarez and Shawn Hernandez each went 2-for-3 for Los Amigos Construction.

Jesse Nunez homered and Kris Ferguson blasted four singles to lead Feather Haven Mill by Pro Electric 13-11.

Brian Sullivan added a single, double and triple as Feather Haven, the first-half CC champion, rallied from a 6-1 deficit after three innings. Chris Adame posted three singles and Daniel Sandoval singled and doubled for Pro Electric.

Men’s CC

Jus 2 Party knocked Rhino Wiring out of pennant contention in the second half of the Men’s CC League Monday at Gavilan Sports Park with a 14-13 decision.

Jus 2 Party exploded for seven runs in the top of the final inning to take a 14-12 lead. Alex Salgado spiced the rally with a two-run double. Salgado went 5-for-5 and Mike Howe stroked three hits and a sacrifice fly for the 4-1 Party. Daniel Payne went 3-for-3 for 3-2 Rhino Wiring.

Gilroy NAPA Slammers advanced to 4-1 by defeating Temple Inland 24-14.

Mike Gonzalez went 4-for-5 and scored four runs for the Slammers. Ralph Ortiz drove in five Slammer runs with a triple, double and two singles. Sat Regalado homered and Surf Mancera drove in four runs for Temple Inland.

Going Somewhere jumped to a 6-1 lead and held on to defeat Blackout Window Tinting 9-6 in the opener. Brian Quon went 4-for-4 and Ryan Bell and Richard Towner added three hits apiece to the Going Somewhere offense. Alex Pena homered and Eric Keen singled and doubled for Blackout Window Tinting, the first-half CCC champion.

Men’s BB

DLM Electric remained in pennant contention in the Men’s BB League second half by edging California Silk Screening 16-15 Friday at Las Animas Park.

Gilbert Salgado hit a home run and a two-run triple to spark the 3-1 Electricians. Gabe Ponce plated three DLM runs with a double and two singles. Jim Sands homered and Dave Meacham stroked four hits for Cal Silk.

Rich Rodriguez hit two home runs and Art Esquer and Fred McCasland each pounded four hits in a 19-7 Craig Avila Bail Bonds nod over Bad News. Henry Calderon went 3-for-3 and Ricky Salinas homered for Bad News.
