Galvan died on Saturday, Dec. 6, as a result of an automobile

Paul “PJ” Galvan died on Saturday, Dec. 6, as a result of an automobile accident. He was 18 years old.

Galvan was born in Portsmouth, Va., and came to Hollister from Gilroy 11 years ago. He graduated from San Benito High School where he played football and baseball and received all-league honors in both sports. He was an honor roll student and served on the student council as treasurer. He was a scholarship recipient at Gavilan College where he was on the baseball team. He was in his first year at Gavilan.

Galvan is survived by his parents Robert and Lorie Galvan, of Hollister; his brother and sister, Bobby Galvan and Anissa Galvan, also of Hollister; his grandparents, Curt and Patsy VanNoy, of Hollister, Paul Garcia, of Hollister, Robert Galvan Sr., of Hollister, and Terry Galvan of Gilroy; and his aunts and uncles and their spouses Lenita Garcia, of Hollister, Aaron and Lisa Angulo, of Hollister, Alfie and Veronica Galvan, of Los Banos, Ruben Galvan, of Gilroy, Carolyn and Dave Padilla, of Ceres, and Debbie and Al Morales, of Gilroy.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 5:30 p.m., at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home, 363 Seventh St., Hollister, and then from 6 to 9 p.m. at St. Benedict’s Church. A Rosary and Mass will then be conducted at 7 p.m. Cremation will follow the Mass with private family inurnment at St. Benedict’s Columbarium.
