Dueling brew pubs eye police station.

DEAR EDITOR:

I read with interest the article “Dueling brew pubs eye police station.”

Having absolutely no personal interest on how this, or any competition for the police station property, turns out. I would like to make one basic observation. The Acevedos plan to “brew handcrafted specialty beers and their popular non-alcoholic root beer and special sodas” on the site.

The Page Holdings LLC group plans to sell “brews at a potential Morgan Brewing Company … (which) would be made off-site”.

My observation is that definitions seem to be in order. To wit: a brew pub brews on site; a bar and grill sells products that may or may not include anything made on the premisis. In this case LLC group plans to brew nothing on site.

Clearly, the Acevedos have applied for permission to establish a brew pub, whereas the Page Holdings LLC group intends to open a bar and grill.

I think a true brew pub would add significant flavor and personality to Morgan Hill’s downtown – another bar and grill would be just another bar and grill.
