Gilroy High student to attend leadership seminar

GILROY – Gilroy High School’s Katherine Kwong will join 150 other sophomores May 30 through June 1 for the 17th annual Northern California Youth Leadership Seminar.

Each year high schools are asked to nominate just one student who has demonstrated strong leadership abilities or potential. Kwong will participate in the weekend-long conference which will be held this year at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, Calif.

The conference gives youth leaders a chance to meet with leaders in business and government and hear from motivational speakers. Seminars cultivate leadership skills and encourage youth to make a positive impact on their community through volunteerism.

Northern California Youth Leadership Seminar is seeking donors to sponsor students for this year’s event. The non-profit organization relies completely on volunteers and receives no government funding.
