Fire dousin’ fun

GILROY – Celebrate history month and fire prevention month with the city and historical society on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gilroy Museum, 195 Fifth St.

The museum will be showing an exhibit, “Dousing The Flames: The Story of The Gilroy Fire Department,” all month long in honor of fire-prevention month.

On Saturday, Gilroy firefighters will demonstrate modern firefighting equipment on two fire engines in front of the museum on Fifth Street. The historical society’s 1923 engine will be on display, as well. Details: 848-0470.

Pumpkin Patch concert

GILROY – Uesugi Farms Pumpkin Patch presents a public performance by Massive DJ Sounds on Sunday, Oct. 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. Performances will be held at Uesugi Farm Pumpkin Patch, 14485 Monterey Highway. Round up rodeo Funds

GILROY – Chevy’s, 8440 Murray Ave., is hosting a fund raiser for the California High School Rodeo Association on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Simply give your server your receipt, inform them of your intent to support the fund raiser and Chevy’s will donate 20 percent of the proceeds to the CHSRA.

All high school students attending public, private or home school in California are eligible to participate in the CHSRA. Representatives from the CHSRA will be available in the evening to answer any questions on how to become involved in sport. Details or reservations: 847-2726.

Browse for baby

GILROY – Las Madres of Gilroy will hold its semi-annual garage sale fund raiser on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3 and 4 from 8 a.m. to noon at 7675 Benassi Drive in Gilroy.

Parents with young children shouldn’t miss out on the chance to browse through hundreds of gently used baby care items, furniture, toys and baby, children’s and maternity clothing. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will benefit Las Madres, and additional merchandise collected will be donated to local children’s charities.

School boundary meetings

MORGAN HILL – Morgan Hill Unified School District invites the public to attend two community forums they will be conducting on the district’s proposed high school and middle school boundary changes. Meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Britton Middle School Auditorium, 80 West Central Ave., Morgan Hill and Monday, Oct. 13, from 6 to 7 p.m. Martin Murphy Middle School Auditorium, 141 Avenida Espana, San Jose.

MORGAN HILL – The American Business Women’s Association, Changing Times Chapter, will hold a Cow Chip Bingo and Harvest Faire on Saturday, Oct. 4, beginning at 8 a.m. at 2160 Sharlene Court.
