Any players that have tuned in to see Annika Sorenstam’s debut on to the PGA tour can learn one great attribute that this wonderful player has. The ability to play “within yourself”. It would be very easy for Annika to try and do “too much” and play a game other than hers. But instead she plays to her strengths such as hitting it straight and knocking fairway woods close. She didn’t change her game plan to suit the situation. She just simply brought her game to the course and accepted the challenge that the course produced.

When you are faced with a demanding course or match. Don’t try and do more than you are capable of. Play the course with your strengths. Don’t let the course play you. If you never hook the ball don’t all of a sudden think that you can hit a ball right to left 40 yards around a tree. If you don’t hit the ball very high, go under the tree not over it. Play your best shot, not a shot you wish you had.

Buy the time this article is read we will know whether Annika has made the cut or not. Frankly, to me it’s irrelevant. She has nothing to prove except that she is a great golfer, male or female and earned the shot to test her game against the games other great players. So next time you’re on the course, face up to the challenge, whether it’s simply one shot or your entire round the challenge is what makes the game great.

Remember, when all else fails, take a lesson. You’ll be surprised how much we can help.

Oh and by the way…GO ANNIKA!
