GILROY – The public is welcome to enjoy some old-fashioned fun for the whole family at Rebekah Children’s Services’ 39th annual Spring Festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 25, 26 and 27. There will be carnival rides, mouth-watering food and dessert booths, games, craft vendors, entertainment, classic car/hot rod shows and more. Local mascots, including McGruff the crime fighting dog, Der Weinersnitzl dog and the Hometown Buffet bee, will attend to entertain the crowd. All proceeds benefit services for vulnerable children and families. The festival will take place at Rebekah’s Children’s Services’ grounds in downtown Gilroy and South Valley Junior High. Fest to showcase fine wines
CASA DE FRUTA – The Artisan and Wine Festival will be held on Saturday, April 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Casa de Fruta. Over 15 wineries, labeled as artisan wineries for providing quality, handcrafted vineyard designated bottles, will pour throughout the afternoon as they visit with guests. The festival will also showcase some of the finest restaurants, artists and musicians in the region. The Shane Dwight Blues Brothers will play on the main stage. Tickets are $40 per person and include a logo glass, 10 wine tasting tickets and the day’s events. Tickets are $35 for each designated driver. Gourmet food will be sold separately. Crab Cioppino Feed
GILROY – The Gilroy High School Athletic Association is holding its 23rd Annual Crab Cioppino Feed and Dance on Saturday, May 10, at Christopher Ranch. Dinner is served from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and dancing to Shaboom will be from 8 p.m. to midnight. Operation yellow ribbon
GILROY – Support U.S. troops by donating to Operation Yellow Ribbon, an effort to boost troop morale by shipping care packages and letters of support to our soldiers around the globe and in the Persian Gulf. People can donate a variety of items from personal hygiene products to non-perishable foods. Learn about 4-H
SAN MARTIN – Come learn about rabbits, poultry, pygmy goats, entomology and bee- keeping at the Santa Clara County 4-H sponsored countywide Small Animal Field Day, on Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the San Martin Lions Club. See what it’s like to care for a small animal. Learn about showing, proper handling, grooming and how to pick out a proper pet or show animals. Fly-in for Cinco De Mayo
SAN MARTIN – The Cinco de Mayo Wings of History will fly into the South County Airport on Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4, from sunup to sundown. Serra Club hosts Don Gage
GILROY – The St. Catherine’s Catholic Church Serra Club will host super-visor Don Gage, who has been active in Santa Clara County political activities for 20 years, on Saturday, April 26 at 9 a.m. Gage will speak on the conflicts that arise between the practice of his faith and the demand of secular political life. Deadline nears for run
MORGAN HILL – The Sunset Hot Rod Dam Run and Barbecue will take place on Sunday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Cochrane Road. The run is open to all American-made customs, hot rods, classics and trucks. There will be music, raffles, dash plaques, awards and a tri-tip barbecue. Registration is due by Saturday, April 26.
