Superintendent Deborah Flores plans to recommend a $1,000 monthly stipend for up to 10 months for El Roble Elementary School Principal Scott Otteson as he takes on extra duties this school year.
This summer, Flores reassigned Otteson, who earns $133,101 in a salary and benefits package, from Glen View Elementary School to El Roble to fill the vacancy left when former Principal Iraida Pisano was removed last school year.
Otteson will coach the new Glen View principal, who Flores hopes to appoint along with getting the stipend passed at Thursday’s school board meeting. The district usually pays $4,000 for a coach from the New Teacher Center at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Flores said. Otteson will also be working an additional 15 days this year and is preparing Glen View, where he served as principal for three years, and El Roble for the Aug. 18 opening of the school year. He will continue to have a presence at Glen View all year, Flores said.
