Red Phone: Last Friday, Red Phone ran a question from a caller on a fallen carport that was damaged in the recent rains and collapsed at the Lilly Garden Apartments on Lilly Avenue. The manager of the apartments said at that time the carport would be fixed soon. The Gilroy Building Department placed yellow caution tape around the port to keep people away, and Code Enforcement Officer Scott Barron took a look at the property this week and talked to the property manager.
“I reminded her that the carport is a nuisance in its current condition and needs to be removed,” Barron said. “She indicated that they have been waiting on the insurance company. She also stated that they would be removing the collapsed structure by the end of this week.”
As of Thursday, the carport still had not been repaired. So stay tuned and we’ll let you know when it is fixed.
Intersection needs stop sign
“I would like to see a stop sign be put up on Rosanna and Ninth streets. There are stop signs on every other corner in that area. Rosanna and Ninth are one block away from Glen View School. You would think there would be a stop sign on a school walking zone.”
Red Phone: Dear Give Me A Sign, There are indeed signs all the way around the school, but it looks like at the present time there won’t be a stop sign added at this intersection.
“Generally for the outer areas we don’t add signs unless they have a high traffic volume or have had accidents,” said Traffic Engineer Don Dey. “I don’t see the city proceeding with anything more there at this time.”
