Charles Sargenti and Caryl Simpson are engaged to be married Oct. 23, 2010.

Charles is vice president of operations and finance at Garlic Festival Foods, Hollister and Gilroy. He has a PhD. in biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Caryl is the founder and CEO of Garlic Festival Foods, Hollister and Gilroy. She has a degree in art with a minor in psychology.

The ceremony and celebration following will be held at the couple’s residence in Aromas. An outdoor ceremony will be held under the oaks and guests will celebrate the union with food, drink and dancing “until the cows come home.”

HONORS

Raymond Borja

Air Force Airman Raymond R. Borja graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the brother of Nicole Kubota of Gilroy. Borja graduated in 2008 from Denver Automotive Diesel College, Colo.

Nicholas L. Corbridge

SSG Nicholas L. Corbridge was inducted into the Fort Bragg Airborne Chapter Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.

This elite membership group recognizes noncommissioned officers (sergeants) who have displayed the integrity, professionalism, commitment to mentoring subordinate soldiers, leadership abilities and personal ethics exemplified by Audie L. Murphy.

SAMC is a privilege earned by a few exceptional noncommissioned officers. The SAMC is a means of recognizing those NCOs who have contributed significantly to the development of a professional NCO Corps and combat ready Army. Members exemplify leadership characterized by personal concern for the needs, training, development and welfare of soldiers and concern for families of soldiers.

Nicholas is the son of Bruce and Nancy Corbridge of Morgan Hill. He serves with the 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army.
