Vasquez earned his second Central Coast Section title, pinning Gio Zacarias of Aptos at 2:41 in the 126-pound championship bout. The Mustang also pinned TJ Dasalla of Santa Clara in the opening round of CCS and won his next three by major decision, decision and tech fall.Â
Melanie Tanaka, Christopher Girls Basketball

Tanaka posted nine points for the Cougars in their 62-38 upset over Leigh in the opening round of the Central Coast Section Division II playoffs on Feb. 24. She also came up with key steals and rebounds in the team’s 65-53 loss to Pioneer in the second round on Feb. 26.Â
