CHINO HILLS—Gilroy’s Pac-Coast 11U team racked up 11 hits to best Attack Baseball Club 14-6 in the USSSA AA World Series Gold Bracket Friday.
Eric Cantu led the Gilroy squad going 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Eli Sepulveda and Sebastian Llamas each notched two hits and two RBIS apiece.
The game was tied at 5-5 in the top of the fourth when Pac-Coast took control. Three consecutive walks loaded the bases for the Gilroy-based team. Back-to-back singles from Sepulveda and Cantu put their team ahead 7-5 and two errors allowed Mikey Cambria and Sepulveda to come home to give Pac-Coast a sizeable 9-5 lead.
David Woods scored off an error in the top of the fifth to spark another Pac-Coast rally. A Cambria single, Sepulveda ground out and Cantu single pushed three more runs across for Pac-Coast. Justin Cortez followed up with a triple to score Cantu to cap off scoring for their team.
Attack’s final run came in the bottom of the fifth inning.
David Seanez pitched a complete 5-inning game for Pac-Coast. He allowed six runs on six hits, struck out one and walked five.
Attack leapt out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but couldn’t hold it for long.
Pac-Coast cut Attack’s lead to one when Raymond Bustos singled to right field to score Jacob Woods and Seanez came home on a wild pitch.
Attack added a run in the bottom of the inning to lead 4-2, but Pac-Coast was quick to answer.
A double and walk put runners in scoring position in the top of the third. Llamas knocked a line drive into centerfield for a two-RBI single, scoring Justin Cortez and Cantu to even the score at 4-all.
Llamas advanced to second and third on the throw and wild pitch, respectively, before Sepulveda came in as a courtesy runner. A ground ball single from Woods brought him home and gave Pac-Coast its first lead at 5-4.
Attack leveled the game in bottom half of the inning, capitalizing off a wild pitch, but that’s all it was able to muster up.
Pac-Coast will square off with La Puente Heat at 3:30 p.m. today. The Heat topped Lights Out 9-1 earlier in the day.
