Stats and accolades from Friday’s game
Player of the game: Jared Gamm, LB/TE, Senior

With starting tight end Steven Quistian out with an injury, Gamm hauled in a season-high six catches for a team-high 72 yards. Also a linebacker, the senior now plays nearly every down for the Mustangs.

Bad omen of the game: It wasn’t a pretty start for the Mustangs. On the opening kickoff, the Cowboys recovered a squib kick that went off the leg of an unsuspecting Gilroy player. Salinas recovered at its own 47, ran four plays and then scored on a three-yard touchdown run. The underdogs never relinquished the lead.

Stat of the game: Going into Friday’s game, the Mustangs had a grand total of four turnovers on the year. Against the Cowboys, they turned it over five times. Enough said.
