I had the unique opportunity to study the Chinese news media, advertising industry, and propaganda in Beijing this summer through a faculty led study abroad program sponsored by San Jose State University.
During my stay on the People’s University campus, I spoke with numerous students, professors, and members of the Chinese media about life under Communist rule.
How lucky we are to live in America! Many of us take our freedoms for granted. It is puzzling to the Chinese people that so many Americans are apathetic about voting. Time and time again I was reminded of how fortunate we are to have a say in how we are governed.
This is the reason we must be ever vigilant in insuring that the individual freedoms we enjoy are not diluted by elected officials with radical agendas.
