GILROY – The Gilroy High School choirs will be performing their ‘Pops Concert’ on Thursday, June 3 in the Gavilan Theater.
Randy Sparks and his current six-member band, a remake of the New Christy Minstrels, will join the choirs.
Sparks was Burl Ives’ writer for and opening act for 30 years. Sparks also received a grammy from the hit song ‘Today.’

‘Office Hours’ comes to stage
GILROY – Pintello Comedy Theater, 8531 Church St., will present ‘Office Hours,’ directed by Marion Pintello, beginning on Friday, June 4. The play shows at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, June 4 through July 3.
‘Office Hours’ is a comedy featuring five actors playing 17 parts in six different offices who are connected, but in very unexpected ways.

GILROY – The Fairview Drive Neighborhood presents ‘Alleyway Paint Out Day’ on Saturday, June 5, starting at 8:30 a.m. at Southside Alley Way, 400 Fairview Drive.

Big bubble contest
GILROY – Wal-Mart will host the fifth annual ‘Dubble Bubble National Bubble Blowing Contest’ on June 12, beginning at 11 a.m.
Kids ages 12 and under will compete to see who can blow the biggest bubble gum bubble. All bubbles will be measured using an official Dubble Bubble Bubble Meter. Six finalists from across the country will be eligible to compete for a $10,000 savings bond and $5,000 donation to Children’s Miracle Network in the national finals in August.

GILROY – City of Gilroy Community Services Department Recreation Division presents ‘Summer Concerts in the Park’ at the Christmas Hill Park Amphitheater on the second Sunday of each month, from 5 to 7 p.m.

On July 11, Juz Cuz will present funk, soul and dance music.
On Aug. 8, the Ritmo band will rock the house as the ultimate tribute to Santana. Finally,

GILROY – South Valley Civic Theater will hold auditions for their upcoming production “Moon Over Buffalo,” by Ken Ludwig and directed by Steve Spencer, on Friday, June 18 and Saturday, June 19.
