The rain turned Gavilan’s home game with West Hills into a road game Saturday and resulted in mixed results.
The Rams (2-4) split the double header with the hosts, dropping the first contest 5-1 and winning the second 3-2.Â
Gavilan jumped out to a 2-0 lead off a Steven Martinez single in the top of the first of Game 2. Martinez’s hit send Adam Kocina and Danny Guiterrez home.
Guiterrez and Kocina were in the mix again in the top of the fifth when a Guiterrez single was able to score Kocina for the winning run.
Matt Oxner (2-1) went the distance racking up 13 strikeouts. He gave up four hits, one earned run and two walks.
Scott Tall (0-1) was handed the loss in the first game for Gavilan, pitching six and a third innings while giving up 11 hits, five runs and two walks and notching a strike out.Â
Eric Guill-Perez drove in the lone Ram run with a double in the top of the seventh to send Andrew Bueno across the plate. Guill-Perez was 1 for 2 with an RBI and walk in that game. Bueno was 1 for 4 with a run.Â
