Crime in Gilroy

The Gilroy Police Department responded to a variety of crimes recently including felony burglary in the first degree, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence. Arrests were recorded in the GPD’s blotter from Jan. 2 through 9.
First-degree burglary
-Ismael Garcia, 45, on Jan. 6 at 9:03 a.m. near the intersection of Carmel and Second streets for felony burglary in the first degree and felony possession of a controlled substance.
-Joe Ibarra, 30, on Jan. 6 at 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Third Street and Monterey Road for felony burglary in the first degree, felony possession of a controlled substance and felony re-arrest for probation violation.
Assault with a deadly weapon
-Alex Garcia, 20, on Jan. 3 at 4:43 a.m. on the 7400 block of Hanna Street for felony assault with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher.
Battery
-Juan Hernandez, 23, on Jan. 4 at 6:45 p.m. on the 300 block of Mantelli Drive for battery.
-Richard Villa, 34, on Jan. 6 at 11:32 a.m. on the 6800 block of Camino Arroyo for battery on a former spouse, fiancé or cohabitant and resisting, delaying or obstructing a peace officer.
Driving under the influence
-Fernando Tovar, 66, on Jan. 5 at 5:53 p.m. near the intersection of Newtons Alley and Old Gilroy Street for driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher.
-Martin Aburto, 47, on Jan. 6 at 12:31 a.m. near the intersection of First Street and Wren Avenue for driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher.
-Jessica Chavez, 20, on Jan. 9 at 1:13 a.m. near the intersection of Padova Street and Monticelli Drive for driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher.  
Multiple charges
-Maribel Sanchez, 41, on Jan 2 at 12:11 a.m. near the intersection of Sixth and Chestnut streets for felony theft or unauthorized use of a vehicle, two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance and felony sale or aiding in the sale of stolen property.
-Miguel Guerrero, 32, on Jan. 2 at 3:58 a.m. on the 6100 block of Monterey Street for tampering with fire alarm equipment and use or being under the influence of a controlled substance.
-Eric Harrison, 29, on Jan. 3 at 11 a.m. near the intersection of Alexander and 10th streets for two counts of felony second degree burglary, two counts of felony re-arrest for probation violation, felony possession of a controlled substance and use or being under the use of a controlled substance.
-John Lugo, 20, on Jan. 3 at 2:30 p.m. on the 6000 block of Monterey Road for felony possession of a narcotic controlled substance, felony possession of a controlled substance and resisting, delaying or obstructing a peace officer.
Causing a disturbance
-Omar Gonzales, 33, on Jan. 4 at 5:58 a.m. on the 7200 block of Eigleberry Street for causing a disturbance with loud or unreasonable noise.
Petty theft
-Danna Torres, 25, on Jan. 4 at 5:13 p.m. on the 7100 block of Camino Arroyo for petty theft.
Possession of a controlled substance
-Anthony Gonzales, 48, on Jan. 4 at 7:35 p.m. on the 7000 block of Crawford Drive for felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
Theft
-Leslie Jones, 67, on Jan. 6 at 10:28 a.m. on the 800 bloc of First Street for theft.
Drinking in public
-Jose Raul Baez, 56, on Jan. 8 at 10:27 a.m. on the 100 block of Old Gilroy Street for consuming intoxicating liquor in a public place.
-Fernando Tovar, 66, on Jan. 8 at 10:27 a.m. on the 100 block of Old Gilroy Street for consuming intoxicating liquor in a public place.
-Daniel Pinon, 40, on Jan. 8 at 10:27 a.m. on the 100 block of Old Gilroy Street for consuming intoxicating liquor in a public place.
-Crisanto Sanchez, 40, on Jan. 8 at 10:27 a.m. on the 100 block of Old Gilroy Street for consuming intoxicating liquor in a public place.
-Cesar Gomes, 31, on Jan. 8 at 10:27 a.m. on the 100 block of Old Gilroy Street for consuming intoxicating liquor in a public place.
Under the influence
-Manuel Mendez-Hidalgo, 28, on Jan. 4 at 1:57 a.m. on the 7500 block of Alexander Street for being under the influence of alcohol, drugs or a controlled substance.
-Javier Marquez, 28, on Jan. 4 at 3:28 a.m. near the intersection of Orchard and Cumberland drives for being under the influence of alcohol, drugs or a controlled substance.
-Alejandro Sanchez, 21, on Jan. 4 at 7:03 a.m. near the intersection of Las Animas Avenue and No Name Uno for being under the influence of alcohol, drugs or a controlled substance.
-Kelsey Tellerday, 26, on Jan. 4 at 6:05 p.m. on the 300 block of Mantelli Drive for being under the influence of alcohol, drugs or a controlled substance.
-Jacqueline Rojo, 55, on Jan. 9 at 9:56 p.m. on the 700 block of First Street for being under the influence of alcohol, drugs or a controlled substance.
Vandalism
-Glen Robertson, 25, on Jan 8 at 11:10 p.m. on the 8300 block of Monterey Street for vandalism of property not belonging to the suspect.
Taking a vehicle without consent
-Julio Aguayo 38, on Jan. 9 at 2:23 a.m. near the intersection of Monterey Street and Hornlein Court for taking a vehicle without the consent of the owner.
