Kitaji helps Earlham field hockey to victory, Baseball players
needed, Gilroy to host Junior Tennis Championships
RICHMOND, Ind. – Earlham College sophomore Kailynn Kitaji, a Gilroy High graduate, recorded an assist in the Quakers’ 1-0 field hockey win over Ohio Wesleyan University on Oct. 8 in Delaware, Ohio.

The win improves the Quakers’ record to 3-6 in the North Coast Athletic Conference and 5-7 overall.

CENTRAL COAST – The Coast-to-Coast Amateur Stars are now seeking 11-18 year old baseball players and 14-19 year old softball players from California who would like the opportunity to represent the United States at a two-week wummer 2003 tournament in Australia.

Team age groups include 11-12, 13-15 and 16-18 for boys and 14-15 and 16-19 for girls. The squads are led by top college coaches and pro scouts who provide a unique perspective on what it’s like to play at the game’s highest level.

GILROY – The Gilroy Autumn Junior Championships, co–sponsored by the US Tennis Association and the Gilroy Tennis Club, will begin Nov. 2 here in Gilroy. The players, age 12 to 18, from all over the state have qualified to compete in this tournament by winning or placing in events throughout 2002. They will test their skill at various tennis courts throughout the city on Nov. 2, 3, 9, and 10. You can find matches at Las Animas Veterans Park, Gilroy High School, and Gavilan Community College tennis courts. The games are open to the public at no charge and run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Profits received from tournament entry fees are returned to the City of Gilroy through Gilroy Tennis Club, Inc. grants for court construction and refurbishment.
