Dear Editor:

I want to publicly thank the Gilroy community for their continuous support. On Friday, Nov. 2 the Gilroy Hispanic Chamber of Commerce had its 21st Annual Installation Dinner. It was well represented by the community at which over 200 people attended.

Our keynote speaker was John Tresvina, Stanford Law Professor, former appointee and highest ranking Latino to Special Counselor Immigration Related Unfair Employment Practices at the U.S. Department of Justice from 1997-2001.

As it has been traditionally, our highlights of the evening were the presenting of awards to community members and businesses:

• Business of the Year Award: Dicar Insurance

• Educator of the Year Award: Rose Hernandez, Gavilan College Faculty

• Volunteer of the Year Award: Louie Sandoval Family

• Special Recognition Award: “Coach” Bob Garcia long time resident and educator at Gavilan College.

In addition, all the awardees received special acknowledgment from State Assemblyman, Honorable Simon Salinas. Congressman, Honorable Mike Honda presented to the Gilroy Hispanic Chamber of Commerce recognition for the contributions and community service the Hispanic Chamber has contributed to the Gilroy community.

On behalf of the Gilroy Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, its Board of Directors, Hispanic Chamber membership, and friends we extend our warmest expression of gratitude. Thank you once again for making this year’s Instillation Dinner a successful endeavor once again!

Louie Sandoval, Gilroy, President/Chairman of the Board, Gilroy Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
