Alisal
Dispatch Notes

GILROY – Two points.

That’s all that separated the Gilroy High girls track team from completing a perfect, undefeated season.

The Lady Mustangs (6-1) – which lost by only two points in an earlier league meet against Salinas – capped off their stellar season with a 94-5 shellacking of visiting Alisal in last Thursday’s finale.

Freshman long distance specialist Stephanie Radtke took the tape in the two-mile, mile and 800m runs, while teammate Anna Hurtado matched the effort – finishing first in the 300m low hurdles, the high jump, and the triple jump. The Butler sisters hit full stride as well with Raquel Butler winning the 100m dash and Roshanda Butler winning the 200m dash and taking second in the 100m dash.

In addition, the girls squad – under the guidance of head coach Guido Zvigne – also received a first-place finishes from Sharlene Rojas in the 400m and Katrina Stewart in the shot put as well as the discus throw.

On the same day, the varsity boys squad dropped a 73-36 decision to Alisal to end its regular season. The junior varsity boys dominated 80-3, while the junior varsity girls lost 39-24.

The Monterey Bay League Championships are scheduled May 4 at Hartnell College in Salinas.
