Please, don’t tell me that even golf balls are getting
specialized for the season you are playing in. Well, not exactly,
but you want to realize that the colder the weather, the harder it
is to compress the golf ball. The less it compresses, the shorter
the ball travels.

So with that information, always look for the golf ball that matches the temperature you are playing in. Choose a lower compression ball for cold weather. Some lower compression ball choices are: Titleist So-Lo, Precept Laddie, or the Top Flite Super Soft.
Higher compression balls if choice are: Pro V1, Callaway Tour, HX Hot, Pinnacle Hot or Top Flite d2 Distance.
A good habit to get into if you are going to play on a cold day is put your golf balls in a warm place before your round. I have even heard of people who will warm them in an oven for a few minutes. (WARNING: Keep the temperature low and never use a microwave.)
When the weather gets warmer, the choice of golf balls is not as critical because all the balls will be softer. But during the winter, it’s always a good idea to play a lower compression ball.
