A 21-year-old Gilroy man was beaten with a club when three men forced their way into his Rosanna Street home early this morning, police said. He suffered moderate injuries to his upper body and is currently being treated at a local hospital. He is expected to be released shortly, Sgt. John Sheedy said.
The man and his family were in their home when three unknown men armed with clubs and a shotgun forced their way into the home on the 7700 block of Rosanna Street about 9 a.m. They demanded cash from the 21-year-old, who was struck several times with a club. The shotgun was not fired. Three other people were in the home, but uninjured, police said.
Police are investigating whether the incident is gang-related. It appeared nothing was stolen, police said.
The suspects were described as Spanish speaking Hispanic males, dressed in black wearing bandanas on their faces. They were about 5-feet, 8-inches to 5-feet, 11-inches tall. They fled through the rear of the home in an unknown direction through the east alley between Rosanna and Church streets. At this time it is unknown if the suspects had a vehicle in the area and witnesses didn’t hear or see a vehicle associated with the crime, police said.
