Dear Editor,

I strong oppose the housing development that is pending for the beautiful foothills bordering Rancho Hills Drive (Parcel number 783-20-058), land historically considered off-limits to construction.

This area is a source of natural beauty and tranquility, and home to an abundance of wildlife, all safely visible to residents as they walk, jog, cycle, and drive by on a daily basis; it greatly enhances our lives and it exists in sharp contrast to other foothills of our city, forever altered by massive housing projects.

I urge you to take whatever steps are necessary to save these remaining foothills as a nature preserve, for the residents of Gilroy, for all time. Defend them against development for profit, recognizing that quality of life for Gilroyans means a better balance between development and preservation of the natural beauty that is Gilroy’s blessing.
