A three-run sixth inning propelled the Gilroy Little League boys 11-year-old American All-Stars to a come-from-behind 9-7 victory over Oakridge in District 59 opening round action Monday.

Down to its final two outs and trailing 7-6 in the top half of the sixth, Gilroy’s Michael Salinas poked a one-out double to the fence, subsequently stole third base and scored on a Cameron Childers RBI ground out to knot matters at 7-7.

Charlie Ayala and Daniel Colmer kept the inning in tact, drawing a walk and delivering a base hit, respectively. The two base runners advanced up one bag each on a passed ball and scooted home on the heels of Riley Kafka’s two-run double for the 9-7 advantage for manager Ed Lujan’s All-Stars.

Kafka, who took the mound in relief in the third inning, held Oakridge scoreless the rest of the way and closed out the contest inducing a pair of pop outs to second.

Gilroy resumes District play today at 5:30 p.m. in San Jose.
