Gilroy – Gavilan got solid pitching from Joseph Vasquez and timely hitting from Efrain Ruiz to beat City College of San Francisco 10-6 Tuesday and gain its first Coast Conference win.
Vasquez was touched for two first-inning runs and then pitched scoreless ball into the seventh. Dylan Regan came on to get the save.
Ruiz had three hits including a two-run single in the eighth inning that extended a 7-6 lead. Drew Anderson collected two hits for the Rams (7-10 overall, 1-2 in conference).
“We played pretty good defense and got some timely hitting,” Gavilan coach Neal Andrade said.
The Rams continue conference action at 2pm today at Ohlone College.
