San Martin – Victor Rangel Tellez, 66, who was arrested in March and charged with sexually abusing a girl over the course of three years, will be sentenced next month.
Tellez has pleaded guilty to seven counts of lewd or lascivious acts upon a child younger than 14. He has agreed to a sentence of 42 years in prison, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office. He originally faced seven counts of aggravated sexual assault.
He is scheduled to be sentenced, Sept. 26.
The Gilroy resident began abusing the 8-year-old victim in 1999, according to court records. He continued until about 2003.
The girl told police she was scared to tell anyone what happened because Tellez said he would hurt anyone she told. The abuse came to light earlier this year when Tellez told his sister and niece that he molested the victim. He remains in protective custody.
