Robert Birrueta, 21, was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and participating in a criminal street gang.

Early this morning, Gilroy Police Department executed a search warrant on the 7300 block of Old Gilroy Drive in Gilroy for Robert Birrueta, 21, who was wanted on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and participating in a criminal street gang.

He was arrested without incident and booked into Santa Clara County Jail.

On Jan. 12, investigators from the GPD’s Anti-Crime Team responded to an assault in the area of Martin and Forest streets in Gilroy. According to police, the male victim was assaulted by several Norteno gang members and orders were given to the aggressors during the assault by Birrueta.
