Here are a few criminal incidents worth noting this week.

Stealing from charity

At 1:25 a.m. on June 16, a male suspect stole a donation box for muscular dystrophy patients at 7-11 on First Street containing about $30 in small bills. Gilroy Police have a suspect in mind but have arrested him yet.

Car theft

Julie Pena, 24 of Morgan Hill and Steven Spille, a 28-year-old Gilroy man on probation who gave police a Santa Cruz address, were arrested for stealing a white 2004 Lincoln. The vehicle was recovered and the pair were taken to Santa Clara County Jail.

Fight and drug arrest

At 11:27 p.m. on June 11, police were dispatched to a fight on Church and Eighth streets. Jose Hernandez, 24, was demonstrating bizarre behavior and police determined he was under the influence of a stimulant. Police also found a knife on his person. He began to resist police orders, so was put into a control hold and placed in the car. Police later found .8 grams of methamphetamine on him. He was taken to the county jail.

Child strangled while walking home

A 13-year-old Gilroy female was walking home from school on the afternoon of June 12 when she was choked for 10 seconds by a female suspect on the 7100 block of Grenache Way.
