Gilroy Police responded to a variety of crimes, including burglaries, assaults, stolen vehicles, vandalism, and a pit bull attack on a cat from Jan. 10-17.
Assault
- Jan. 12 at 11:30 p.m. on the 7500 block of Monterey Street, a victim reported being attacked in the women’s restroom at The Tequila Bar. This case is under review by the District Attorney’s office.
- Jan. 16 at 1:39 p.m. on the 1000 block of Monte Bello Road, Jessie Salinas, 26, was arrested for assault.
Residential burglary
- Jan. 10 at approximately 4 p.m. on the 500 block of W. Tenth Street, unknown suspect(s) went into a locked residence and stole several items out of the victim’s bedroom.
- Jan. 11 at approximately 4 p.m. on the 800 block of Pueblo Street, unknown suspect(s) entered a home under construction and stole four stainless steel Profile appliances from the kitchen including a refrigerator, a gas range/oven, a microwave and a dishwasher.
- Jan. 16 at approximately 12:10 p.m. on the 700 block of Creekside Court, a victim reported that upon returning home after being gone for three weeks he discovered $15,000 missing from his room. The victim suspects that his adult son entered the house without permission and stole the money while victim was away. No signs of forced entry were found.
Grand theft
- Jan. 15 at 5:53 p.m. on the 7000 block of Camino Arroyo, an unknown female and an unknown male stole approximately 6 to 8 computer tablets over a four-day period.
Petty theft
- Jan. 16 at 6:20 p.m. on the 8000 block of Monterey Street an unknown suspect drugged the victim and then stole the victim’s EVO cell phone, California identification card and $30 in cash.
Stolen vehicle
- Jan. 15 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on the 300 block of Mayock Road an unknown suspect stole a 1993 white Ford pick-up truck.
- Jan. 14 at 4:30 p.m. on the 8100 block of Arroyo Circle, a victim reported that his white 1995 Honda Civic (California license plate 4SBN876) was stolen from a parking lot.
Vandalism
- Dec. 21 at approximately 5 p.m. on the 7700 block of Hanna Street, it was discovered that a window of Brownell Elementary School had been broken over the holiday break.
- Jan. 15 at 8 a.m. on the 7500 block of Chestnut Street, a victim had his 1995 Honda Civic repeatedly “keyed” leaving significant damage on the vehicle.
Narcotics possession
- Jan. 14 at 4:09 p.m. on the 1300 block of Cypress Court, a juvenile was arrested for a no bail warrant and possession of concentrated cannabis. The juvenile was transported to Juvenile Hall.
Hit and run
- Jan. 16 at 10:43 p.m. on the 7500 block of Forest Street, an unknown driver fled from the Santa Clara Country Sheriff’s Office in a stolen 1999 Acura. After pursuit, the unknown driver turned into an alley and collided into a fence. The driver then fled on foot and was not located. Sheriff’s Department took the recovered stolen vehicle and its contents as evidence.
Auto burglary
- Jan. 15 at midnight on the 8000 block of Del Rio Circle, an unknown suspect broke the front passenger window and stole a Sanyo GPS and a cell phone charger.
- Jan. 14 at 4 p.m. on the 8000 block of Muraoka Drive, unknown suspect(s) forced entry into a locked vehicle and stole a purse, a California driver’s license, a Christopher High School student identification card, a pink Chanel wallet, a personal check and a $2 bill.
Recovered stolen vehicle
- Jan. 14 at 6:15 p.m. on the intersection of Alexander and E. Sixth streets, a stolen 1998 green Honda Civic was recovered.
- Jan. 14 at 10:12 p.m. on the 9000 block of Church Street, a stolen San Jose Police Department vehicle was recovered. (Cold Plated)
Animal
- Jan. 14 at 6:13 p.m. on the 7400 block of Dowdy Street, two dogs – one bulldog and a pit bull – killed a cat.
