Gilroy Police officers responded to an in-progress residential burglary at 10:30 a.m. today on the 7100 block of Pitlochry Drive that resulted in the arrest of three minor suspects and one adult suspect, according to a GPD press release.
Officers say four suspects were seen by witnesses entering the residence through a window. An off-duty police officer, who was also in the area, was able to detain one juvenile male suspect while the remaining three fled on foot. Responding officers arrived a short time after and were able to obtain additional information from witnesses in the area. An immediate search ensued.
Two juvenile male suspects were located hiding a quarter mile away near Uvas Creek. The fourth suspect, 19-year-old Rochelle Wutzke-Berry of San Jose, was apprehended after she was found hiding near the crime scene.
Two of the juvenile suspects are 16 and the other is 15. All are from San Jose and were arrested on charges of burglary, possession of stolen property and conspiracy. Wutzke-Berry was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The investigation revealed that these suspects were also in possession of stolen property belonging to victims in San Jose.
Community members are reminded to report any suspicious persons and/or activity to the police department.
“The keen eye, quick reporting by witnesses and rapid officer response led to the apprehension of these four burglary suspects,” the press release states.
