first-half champion Team Techron on Monday, Feb. 23.
GILROY – South Valley Disposal clinched at least a tie for the second-half Men’s Basketball League title Wednesday with a 53-34 victory over the Gilroy Bulls at Solorsano Gymnasium.
Rick Vasquez hustled to 16 points as South Valley Disposal moved to 5-0 with one game left in the regular season. Disposal faces first-half champion Team Techron on Monday, Feb. 23.
Donnie Gooding struck for 12 of his 15 points in the first half as Disposal built a 23-18 intermission lead. Robert Rodriguez provided two three-point field goals in a 12-point showing for the winners. Chris Niffenegger paced the Bulls with 13 points.
GF Farms rallied past Team Techron 50-43 to drop Techron to 3-2 in second-half action.
Cliff Dennett tossed in 19 points and Daniel Crowe added 15 as GC Farms moved to 3-2 for the second half. Team Techron led 30-29 at halftime. Frank Tomasetti popped in 15 points, Kendrick Azcueta had 10 for the losers. Team Techron will play either South Valley Disposal or Valerie Smith Intero in the best 2-of-3 Championship Series.
Valerie Smith Intero defeated the Warriors 68-58 behind 22 points from Kevin Steele. Marcos Barbosa and Mark Cisneros followed with 12 apiece for the Realtors. Frank Palacios scored 21 points, Mike Vanni 11 and Adolfo Tellez 10 for the Warriors.
Crunch Time reached 3-2 by trimming Hard Ninety 42-37. Tucker Baksa worked inside for 16 points and Jason Wolowitz managed 10 for the Crunchers.
Western Tree Nursery moved to 4-1 in second-half play in the Women’s League Monday at Solorsano Gym with a 39-32 comeback win over the Garlic Girls.
Marissa Taylan scored 14 points, Amanda Bakker 12 and Katie Harold 11 for Western Tree. Wendy Filice produced 10 points, Toni Greene and Roseanne Peralez nine apiece for the Garlic Girls.
Gaeta’s Ballers, 5-0 for the half, earned a forfeit win over Williams Dental Lab. Gaeta’s faces Western Tree Nursery at 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23.
