Chris died suddenly in his sleep after a lengthy illness in Visalia, CA at the age of 41. Chris was born in San Jose and raised in Gilroy. He graduated from Gilroy High School and San Jose State University. He’s preceded in death by his mother Josephine Perez, grandparents Fidel & Maria Mercado and his brother Nathan Walling. He leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Louie Cortez, Linda Cortez, Margaret Walling and Jesse Perez who love him and will miss him dearly. He also leaves his beloved nieces and nephews, Isaiah Amaya, Anissa Amaya, Kristina Cortez, Carissa Cortez, Joseph Franco, Nathan Acosta, Alyssa Cortez, Brandon Castillo, Madison Amaya & Jayden Amaya. He will also be missed by his many aunts, uncles and friends. A memorial service and reception will be held at Wagon Wheel Mobile Home Park 8282 Murray Ave in Gilroy, March 27, 2009 at 2:00 P.M.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Chris’ passing and his lengthy illness. I lost touch with Chris many years ago, as we both moved away. I often wondered what happened to him. Learning this now, I offer my condolences (as late as this may be in saying) to the entire family. May Chris rest in peace and I am thankful he is no longer in pain and suffering.
