A kid views a 1948 police car

Gilroy’s first chili cook off between police and fire departments set Gilroy ablaze Saturday as hundreds of people turned up to sample 21 types of chili.
The winners were CalFire and the Gilroy Police Department. CalFire drew fans with its smoked Tri-tip base; GPD was one of the hottest chilis in the contest, most preferring to flavor with garlic over pepper.
There was great music by JJ Hawg, a chance for kids to see vintage and modern police and fire trucks and face painting.
The money went to Operation Freedom Paws, which pairs dogs with military veterans.
