Twenty-four hours after scoring its sixth consecutive Tri-County Athletic League title, the Gilroy High girls soccer team was handed the No. 8-seed into the Central Coast Section Division II playoffs. Meanwhile, Christopher High, which finished runner-up in the Monterey Bay League, drew the No. 12-seed in Div. II.

The Mustangs host No. 9 Valley Christian on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. The Cougars will make a short trip to Morgan Hill and challenge No. 5 Live Oak – a familiar site for CHS head coach Janae Pimentel, who played for Tony Vasquez’s Acorns and won a CCS title her senior year in 2004. Game time there is 2:30 p.m.

Should GHS prevail, it would face No. 1-seed Mitty. A Cougars victory would have them against No. 4-seed Pioneer.
