Two people were arrested on felony warrants after a traffic stop in Watsonville on Saturday night.

A Watsonville police officer noticed a GMC truck with an equipment violation driving on Main Street and pulled the driver over in the parking lot of Target around 11:30 p.m., Watsonville Police Lt. David McCartney said.

The officer noticed that the passenger, Elia Sagale, appeared nervous and asked him to step out of the car. Sagale fled on foot with an officer pursuing him. Sagale tripped and was apprehended. Police found the 40-year-old San Juan Bautista man in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. They also determined Sagale was a parolee who was wanted on a felony warrant out of Morgan Hill for multiple charges of burglary and theft, McCartney said.

Sagale was arrested on the warrant, and was also arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, violating parole, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into County Jail.

The truck’s driver, Joeann Galvan, 38, of Hollister, was also wanted on a felony warrant out of Morgan Hill for burglary and theft, McCartney said.
