Facing Evergreen Little League for the second time in five days, the Gilroy Little League 10-year-old Blue All-Star baseball team built a first-inning lead, tacked onto it and held on for a 5-0 victory and the District 59 championship Monday in San Jose.

Aidan Lee produced the big hit in that first frame, connecting for a two-run home run to center field. Gilroy added two more runs in the third inning when Alex Shipman hit a double to plate Lee and Sean Fernald.

Connor Villanueva delivered a RBI-double, which brought in CJ Colyer to make it 5-0 in the fourth.

With all the offense he needed, Jake Jensema pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings of two-hit baseball to carry the 10-year-old National team to victory.
