Gilroy Police Badge

High school students are encouraged to attend Gilroy Police Department’s Youth Police Academy in August.

During the week-long academy, participants will meet officers from each of the department’s specialty units: SWAT, Motors, K9, Mounted Unit and the Drone team. Students will be given a tour of the police station, communications center, the temporary holding facility, and patrol vehicles.

Students will also receive instruction on several topics such as: patrol operations, gangs/narcotics, report writing, use of force and building searches, and life lessons.

The academy class has a maximum attendance of 20 students. Applications are due by July 23. To submit an application, download the form at bit.ly/3uUU299.

Completed applications can be emailed to Sgt. Lamonte Toney at [email protected] or dropped off at the Gilroy Police Department lobby.
