The Gilroy branch of the American Association of the University of Women is celebrating Women’s History Month with a lunch and presentation with Robert P. J. Cooney, Jr., author of the landmark book, “Winning the Vote: The Triumph of the American Woman Suffrage Movement.”
Cooney will speak at 11:30 a.m. March 10 at the Westside Grill at 8080 Santa Teresa Boulevard. The public is invited to enjoy this special illustrated presentation and talk by Cooney.
California women won the vote in 1911, setting the stage for the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Cooney has spoken at the Library of Congress, the U.S. Constitution Center and the Smithsonian Institution as well as many schools and libraries.
