Police captured two men who burglarized a residence in northwest Gilroy Wednesday night thanks to a concerned and alert neighbor.
A concerned resident on the 1200 block of Blacksmith Drive noticed two men lurking in a fenced-in back yard at a neighboring home and called police about 10 p.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Jim Gillio said
“Something doesn’t look right,” the caller told police.
By the time police arrived, the two men had broken a window in the back of the house and entered the home, Gillio said.
With guns drawn, about 10 officers surrounded the house and ordered the men to exit, Gillio said. Eduardo Ojeda Delgado, 26, of San Jose, emerged first through the front door and was taken into custody without incident.
The second suspect “took his time,” Gillio said. “We were getting ready to bring out the K9 unit but he surrendered first.”
After about 10 minutes, the second suspect, Sun Cook Hwang, 38, of San Jose, emerged and was also taken into custody without incident.
Police found a watch, a ring and an unspecified amount of cash on the two men. No residents were in the house at the time of the burglary and the men were unarmed.
Gillio said he did not know why the two men targeted that specific residence.
