Dear Editor,
Thank you for your thorough article on “Dealing With Latex Allergies.” I was finally diagnosed in 1998 and have spent the last six years creating a latex safe home environment and latex safe community environment.
I must keep my vigilance high at all times. As an example, just yesterday my husband brought home a new brand of pistachios (one nut I can still enjoy). I immediately called the processor and asked if they used natural rubber latex gloves in the production line and he said yes, in the sorting of the nuts. If I hadn’t called I could have had a severe allergic reaction.
Keep up the good work in getting the word out about this allergy that could end my life if I let my guard down.
