Gilroy Police Officers were dispatched to an armed robbery at 9:02 p.m. Tuesday at a Subway restaurant located at 340 E. 10th St., states a press release sent out by the GPD.
Officials say an unknown adult male entered the business, brandished a firearm and demanded money from the employees – one of whom opened the register. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the area on foot, leaving his vehicle behind.
“There were initial reports that shots had been fired by the suspect, but this was determined to be inaccurate,” the report states. “No one was injured during this incident.”
Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic adult male in his 30s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. His vehicle is described as a “newer style black import.”
